Yesterday, Barça won 3-1 against Athletic Bilbao at the San Mamés, a very important win that can serve as a morale boost. Messi was once more vital, with 2 goals, 2 SOT and 2 to the post (7 in total), 1 goal annulled for a very slim offside, 5 dribbles, he won 8 ground duels, received 2 fouls, made a tackle and an interception, 2 key passes, 1 cross, 8 long balls, 60 passes and 101 touches. Overall a 10/10 performance from him.

With his goals, Messi got his first goal in 2021, his 25th goal against Athletic Bilbao, and he's now tied with 3 others as the La Liga top scorer, even though he's supposedly "finished". Yet again proving he's the best player in the league, and with basically little to no help from his team-mates.
Unluckyness was more of a factor than poor finishing, since they got 2 posts and a goal annulled for a very tight offside, all of them won by Messi. Barcelona now sits comfortably in 3rd place and can sweep in second if they get some more good results and Real Madrid loses some points.
