Not only is Messi an amazing goalscorer, but the goals he scores are sometimes wonderful and beautiful. This is the topic I'll talk about today, so without further ado, let's get into those goals.
Even his first goal ever as a professional footballer was great, chipping the goalkeeper perfectly and entering the net. Another mention goes to his first goal with Argentina U-20, running from almost the halfway line to dribble past 2 players and then the goalkeeper to score.
Leaving that aside, let's get into his Puskás Award nominations, which go to the best goals scored each year. He has been nominated for the award 7 out of 12 times, though he has unfortunately never won it, having instead 2 2nd places and 1 3rd place. The closest to him is Neymar, having 5 nominations.
And this doesn't even include his wonder goal against Getafe back in 2007 which won the UEFA Goal of the Year Award, or his great goal against Bayern Munich in the 2014/15 season where he dribbled past Boateng and chipped Neuer, or his free-kick against Liverpool which won him another UEFA Goal of the Year Award.
Considering how many goals he has scored, it comes as no surprise that he has scored some amazing ones, but what is really surprising is how often he has done them, going back to the Puskás Award nominations and those two UEFA Goal of the Year Awards. This is yet another reason of why he is so great.
